Craig Stein

Mr. Stein is the founder and a Managing Partner of Coastline Capital and has extensive corporate and real estate transaction experience, having originated more than 50 buyout opportunities involving private and public, middle market companies ranging from $10 million to $500 million in transaction value. Mr. Stein has 20 years of experience originating investment opportunities, negotiating the acquisition of entrepreneurially owned companies, structuring buyout financing and marketing those opportunities to institutional investors ranging from multi-strategy hedge funds and insurance companies to banks and SBIC’s. Prior to forming Coastline Mr. Stein was affiliated with Altimeter Capital, a credit opportunities fund focused on domestic corporate issuers. Previously, Mr. Stein was a Managing Director of The Bartaca Company, a private investment firm that focused on buyout transactions of industrial companies, and held professional roles with MIG Realty Advisors and the Golden V Group and its successors. Mr. Stein was the Chairman of Goldsmith LLC, Interim CEO of Cargo Security Group, a member of the Advisory Board of Horizon Services, LLC, and has served as special advisor to Plumtree Ventures, LLC. Mr. Stein graduated with honors from Florida Atlantic University and holds a BBA with concentrations in Finance and Accounting.


Tim Brien

Mr. Brien is the founder and President of Cliffside Capital Corporation, a holding company formed to invest in growing, small and middle market companies in need of private equity sponsorship. Since founding Cliffside, Mr. Brien has led the acquisition of janitorial, equipment maintenance, and catering services companies and a distributor of water, sewer, and industrial pipe. Mr. Brien has more than 20 years of experience executing and managing private equity transactions, serving on Boards of Directors and as a senior executive within portfolio companies. Prior to forming Cliffside, Mr. Brien was a Partner, Co-Founder, and Managing Director with Bear Stearns Merchant Banking Group, $1.5 billion private equity fund. Prior to Bear Stearns, Mr. Brien was a Partner with Joseph, Littlejohn & Levy, a $1 billion private equity fund focused on turnarounds and special situation investments where he structured creative and complex investments with an emphasis on capital preservation. Previously, Mr. Brien was a Principal in Credit Suisse First Boston's Merchant Banking Group, the Clipper Group, where he invested more than $400 million through two private equity funds. During his tenure with the Clipper Group, Mr. Brien served as the COO of David's Bridal, the leading specialty retailer of bridal gown and wedding-related apparel and accessories in the United States. David's Bridal has grown from 48 locations under Clipper Group's ownership to more than 300 stores today. Previously, Mr. Brien was affiliated with Shamrock Holdings, the investment partnership of the Walt Disney family. Mr. Brien holds a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

 

Christopher Randall

Mr. Randall is an external Advisory Partner of Coastline Capital with 25 years of leadership experience providing capital for complex and highly leveraged financial transactions. Mr. Randall has founded several successful, national specialty finance businesses and is an accomplished business development professional, originating and managing over $2.0 billion of debt and equity investments. Mr. Randall is the Senior Managing Director and Founder of NBH Capital Finance ("NBHCF"), the Greenwood Village, Colorado specialty finance subsidiary of National Bank Holdings Corporation. NBHCF provides creative capital solutions to a broad base of manufacturing, distribution, food and agribusiness, energy, government and nonprofit lower middle market clients located across the U.S. Mr. Randall is responsible for establishing and managing all of the day to day activities of NBHCF, including operations, human resources, marketing and general administration. Most recently, Mr. Randall was the Senior Vice President and Founder of CoBiz Structured Finance ("CBSF"), a provider of leveraged loans to lower middle market companies across the U.S.A. Prior to CBSF, Mr. Randall was Senior Managing Director, COO, Co-Founder and Board Member of MFC Capital Funding, a $600 million in assets Chicago, Illinois based specialty lender founded in 2005, which made leveraged loans and minority equity co-investments. Mr. Randall holds a BA in Economics from the University of Colorado and is a Trustee and Member of the Business Development Committee of the University of Colorado Foundation, supporting all campuses of the University of Colorado System.
